about
Bigger - I wrote this song during the summer of 2015 with 7(!!!) other people! 8 people crammed into my small home office, with notebooks, coffee and Bibles, gathered around my piano. The challenge was to write a song to be used for a message series of the same title later that year. We settled on using the song of Moses (Exodus 15) as inspiration. This is the first song in the Bible. A song the Israelites sang after God let them pass through the Red Sea on dry ground, as he rescued them from the pursuing Egyptians who were swallowed up following the same path. The point being, that God is fighting for us. Sometimes we see it, other times we don’t. He’s bigger than our problems. I honestly can’t remember how many writing sessions we had, but there were multiple. Finally, we came up with something we were all proud of.
I signed with a label in 2016 and released this song on an album entitled “Getting Stronger.” However, in the years since the release, I’ve always wanted another chance at it.
So, one night in November of 2020, I got some friends together and set up recording gear in the old mill space where my current church offices are. I love what we came up with! I’m so excited to release something that really sounds like me. I pray believers can be encouraged by these words and I hope that people will resonate with a different kind of worship sound.
I’m thankful for a second chance.
lyrics
Though the armies come
When the darkness falls
By the depths of the sea
When the waters rise
Spread them far and wide
Deliver us, set us free
God You're bigger than all the enemy throws at me
You restore us, You're fighting for us to bring victory
Free us of our pride
All the things we hide
Lay down everything
In Your majesty there's eternity
In Your power we will sing
In Your power we will sing
God You're bigger than all the enemy throws at me
You restore us, You're fighting for us to bring victory
You're our strength and our song
You are our salvation, salvation
Who compares with You, God
We give You our praises, our praises
You are the Warrior
You triumph over all
Almighty God is Your name
You are the Warrior
You triumph over all
Almighty God is Your name
God You're bigger than all the enemy throws at me
You restore us, You're fighting for us to bring victory
God You're bigger than all the enemy throws at me
You restore us, You're fighting for us to bring victory
God You're bigger than all the enemy throws at me
You restore us, You're fighting for us to bring victory
When the waters rise
Spread them far and wide
Deliver us, set us free
